Shadow Lengths of Tallest Twelve Buildings in Australia

My Dad asked me to identify the shadow lengths of the tallest twelve buildings at 4pm today - Sunday 18 June. We used the website http://www.suncalc.org to make the calculations and then laid out the models (pic right) in the order we found. We expected the order may change from the usual tallest to shortest because of different angles of the sun at different locations. Here are the results we received:

  1. Q1- 1749.08m
  2. Eureka Tower - 1653.70m
  3. Chifley Tower - 1604.45m
  4. Citigroup Centre - 1598.09m
  5. 120 Collins St -1475.27m
  6. 101 Collins St - 1447.52m
  7. Prima Pearl - 1414.13m
  8. Rialto Towers - 1396.72m
  9. 1 William St - 1329.48m
  10. Infinity Tower - 1277.12m
  11. Soleil - 1247.10m
  12. Central Park - 1046.80m
[These buildings are only the top 12 in Australia. Including all the other buildings, the order would be different.]

We had expected difference in the shadow lengths based on locations but we're surprised at Sydney shadow lengths relative to Brisbane and Melbourne. We wondered whether the Sydney lengths might be an error?
